Changes in Player Controller

I recently updated a ton of stuff about the internal mechanisms of how the character controls. It allows for getting a lot more speed and maintaining it for longer, as well as making the Air Controls a LOT better. I will be making more changes like this soon, but I wanted to get this out.

GAMEPLAY CHANGES:

  • When jumping or launching, you decelerate a lot faster when the L-Stick is in a neutral position
  • Double Jump now keeps your momentum so long as your stick is in approximately the same direction as your momentum (or if your stick is in the Neutral position). If not, you stop entirely. This can be used as a mid air break when going fast.
  • The dash has been altered so that holding it will continuously give you the boost (before, you had to tap over and over again)
  • Due to the dash changing to a hold-button trigger, the input for the Charge Dash has been changed. You have to press the Dash button while Crouching. To release, let go of the crouch button while still holding the dash.
  • The Standard Ground Dash's speed has been lowered from a Speed of 45 to a speed of 40.
  • The Fully Charged Dash now has a speed of 60 as opposed to 50.
  • Max speed attainable from slopes has been doubled
  • Downward Slopes give a lot more speed
  • When Running above standard run speed, your deceleration is about 75% what it was, meaning you keep your ground speed for longer.
  • The Air Dash now keeps your Downward momentum in tact, and halves your upward momentum. This is different from before, where you would lose all vertical momentum with an airdash
  • When using Toggle Run, dashing automatically turns "Running" on

GENERAL CHANGES:

  • The server that was in use before was offline. It's been brought back online, meaning online play works now
  • Mouse controls are now off by default, with a toggle to enable them in the pause menu. When the mouse controls are off, the game does not take over your mouse
  • "Toggle Run" is now the default option, whereas "Hold Run" was the default before.
  • There are now two versions to download, The Standard (which uses a Vulkan renderer) and the DirectX12 version. The DirectX12 version is slower, but has better compatibility with certain graphics cards.

VISUAL CHANGES:

  • Added a little boost effect when you first use dash when below dash speed
  • Increased the size of the star particle effects that come out of an enemy when you hit them
